FIRST VIEWS OF BERLIN’S MOST EXPENSIVE APARTMENTS By Daniel Riedel

Celebrity designer Philippe Starck presented his luxury residential project in Berlin Mitte yesterday – up to 3.7 million Euros for 310 square meter flat in Berlin Mitte – his furniture is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York – and very soon also in this Berlin apartment building!

Yesterday, French celebrity designer Philippe Starck, 61, presented his latest project in Berlin Mitte: luxury apartments whose design leaves a strong impression! He has been working on the concept since 2007, together with eminent UK designer John Hitchcox, 49. The nine-story pyramid-like building situated on the Am Zirkus 1 site (adjacent to the Berliner Ensemble theater at Schiffbauerdamm) is planned for completion in December 2012.

We had the opportunity to enjoy first views of Berlin’s most expensive apartments! The prices to be paid per square meter for the 87 apartments (whose sizes range from 65 to 310 sq m) are between 4500 and 12000 euros (contrast this with the current average square meter price of 1800 euros in Berlin). This means that the buyer has to pay 3.72 million Euros for the largest unit. There is even a private café bar and Wellness Spa exclusively for those living in the building.

Chandeliers are combined with designer luminaries in the apartments. Antique chairs contrast with illuminated poker tables. “It is my ambition to give people a better life,” Starck says. “The apartments blend highest quality with top-class materials and a perfect location.” The 83 million Euro project is already paying off for the investors. “We’ve already sold 30% of total volume,” comments Markus Spielberger, 37, Relationship Manager of Peach Property Group. “Starck attracts prospective buyers just like a magnet.”
